CHINA QUAKE

Many of you have already heard of the tragic quake in China that has taken the lives of thousands of people. That quake was only 200 miles northwest of Chongqing where we stayed for a week to adopt Nate. That's about the distance from our home to north Phoenix.....not very far at all.

We've heard from our adoption agency, as well as others, that the orphanages they work with are ok:

FROM CHILDREN'S HOPE INTERNATIONAL:
For our adopting families: Children's Hope works with three orphanages for international adoption in the surrounding area - Chengdu, Chongqing and Yibin. Our orphanages are doing well.

FROM HALF THE SKY FOUNDATION:
We have received many emails and calls about the terrible earthquake that struck Sichuan and Chongqing yesterday. We have reached the three orphanages where Half the Sky operates programs: Chengdu, Chongqing and Yibin. All is well. At each place, the children were all evacuated until the tremors passed. The buildings suffered no great damage. And no child was injured.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families who are already in China or are waiting to travel. We know the worry you feel as we felt the same when the same area suffered massive flooding right before we were to travel. The only answer that is reassuring is a solid one that your babies are safe and it sounds like that is case. We continue to pray that the people in China receive the help they need and the hope that more can be rescued.
