NICK JR. SHOW

When we were at our friend's house this week, she introduced me to a fun show called "Ni Hao, Kai Lan!" It's like Dora the Explorer, only it's a chinese girl and you learn chinese words on the program! We don't have cable so I didn't know about it but thought my blogger buddies would be interested in case you didn't know. Here's a summary about it:

What the Show's About
"Ni hao!" That means "hi" in Chinese--and that's how Kai-lan greets you every day! Kai-lan Chow is an exuberant Chinese-American preschooler, almost 6, who wants you to come play with her and her best friends.

Kai-lan's world is infused with Chinese culture and is brimming with magical sights and sounds, and everywhere you turn there's something amazing and beautiful to see. Along the way, she and her bilingual buddies speak in English and Chinese, but they always need kids' help to find creative solutions to the daily dilemmas that come their way!"

Find out more about it at their website: "Ni Hao, Kai Lan"

I don't know that show. We don't have cable either, but have discovered a wonderful thing. You can watch a lot of Nick shows on-line AND SKIP THE COMMERCIALS!! Part of the reason we don't have cable is commercials, so my kids watch a few shows on-line. They are older- not that day's episode- but what does that matter? So anyway, you may look and see if it is on their site. www.nick.com

you can also go to noggin.com and access fun computer games with Kai Lan like decorating lanterns. Glenys said that is her new favorite game!! Sesamestreet.org is a great place for toddler games too. Some of these have videos with them.

Faith loves Kai Lan, Kai Lan, Kai Lan, Ha! I would much rather her watch Kai Lan instead of Dora (personal pref). However she likes both. We just got cable about a year ago. I keep trying to tell Ian we don't really need it. Since the only thing we can REALLY cut back on (budget wise) is our cell phones (which are under contract) and cable, it's one of the 2 luxuries we will be keeping for now (Gotta have the suns games~GO SUNS).
